It was March 16th, 2020, a day that shook the world. But for Dark Side of Denver Ghost Tours, we don’t spook easily. And yet, that was the day the tour became a tale itself, as pandemics and lockdowns entered the zeitgeist. We shuttered our doors, following suit, and thought the whole thing to be very temporary, as did most. But the days came and went. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into years. And like the ghosts in our stories, we disappeared into the darkness, wondering if we could ever rise from the dead. One of the most interesting things for a paranormal tour operator is to meet all the different dynamics of people that seek them out. Some come there to pursue a chance experience of the supernatural nature, while others like to learn the dark history most other tours won’t dare speak of. Some people have a curiosity of death and what lies on the other side and hope to get a little nugget of extra knowledge of the spiritual realms. Others enjoy the history aspect of the tour and could care less of the spectral side. There are those that just come out for the Halloween of it and make it an annual autumn tradition. A tale of gratitude…

We were in the keg room at the last location of the tour. The mood had been light and even jovial at times throughout the evening, but it changed as soon as we walked in those doors. There was an unfamiliar smell of sulfur in the room and it brought with it an air of uncertainty. As I spoke of the soldiers bodies that had been stored there many years ago, the feeling of death and grief seemed to overcome one woman. I noticed how much her expression had changed as soon as we got in that room. She went from smiling and enjoying her haunted walk through Denver to suddenly holding back tears in a matter of seconds.
